OMANEE And GISEC 2021, Key Moments

What is GISEC ?

Whatever sector a business operates in, cyber security matters, not just to protect a business in the ways it might expect, from fraud or attack, but also to help it grow.

Gulf Information Security Expo and Conference (GISEC) addresses this pressing issue by providing a forum for businesses to access innovative, game-changing security products and solutions – solutions that leverage technologies such as AI, Blockchain, 5G, IoT and enterprise cybersecurity, and that come from more than 170 local, regional and international exhibitors.

The show is the region’s largest and most important cyber security event, and this year expands its offering with four new features.

Making their debut are the ‘brain pods’: private consulting rooms where visitors can secure private one-on-one consultations with expert cyber professionals. There is also the first-ever KSA stage, dedicated to cyber security issues and opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The ‘recruitment barracks’ feature acts as a career advancement hub, where expert recruiters will post specialist jobs and take CVs from candidates. The final new aspect for 2020 is the start-up village. Powered by GITEX Future Stars, this enables numerous cyber security start-ups from around the world to showcase their innovations.

These new aspects will join GISEC’s existing range of features, including a conference with more than 200 speakers, in an agenda created by an Advisory Board of Dubai Electronic Security Centre, Dubai Police and Smart Dubai. Last year, the event welcomed 8,300 visitors and – through co-location with Future Blockchain Summit – a collective audience of over 12,000.

GISEC 2021

This year has seen a record spike in cybercrime, the percentage of organizations affected by a successful cybersecurity attack this year has jumped from 78% to 80.7%. For the first time, 35.7% of organizations experienced six or more successful attacks in the first half of the year. As per a report, The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region saw a 751% increase in unsafe clicks during the first three months of 2020. According to Cybersecurity Ventures, a recent study predicts cybercrimes will cost the world $6 trillion a year by next year (2021). It is critical to prepare and defend unknown areas of vulnerability, cyber threats, and survive in this new age of information warfare. What are the security professionals doing to review their cybersecurity strategies to protect themselves, and the business, against these cyberattacks?

GISEC is one of the premier security-focused events in the region and this year’s event could not have been timed better, considering the recent mayhem created by COVID-19. Starting 31 May, the 3 day event is the only security event in the region that brings together the highest number of senior government officials and members from a variety of entities, along with 6,000+ decision makers across the key industry verticals.

The event has seen returning participation from a number of companies, like Huawei, Microsoft, Omanee, etc. since its inception in 2013.

Participating in this conference, Omanee finds that an event like GISEC calls attention to critical issues facing the region and provides an opportunity to learn, educate and network with leading security professionals. Another mind-blowing talk from #GISEC’s 2021 Start-up Stage: “Dr.NEE – Society 5.0: An app to keep you and your kids safe from scammers”, by NIS BUI, Managing Director – Omanee Corp and Ravi Arora, CTO – OMANEE NEETEK.
